Lightroom, Camera Raw and DNG Product Manager

Good Morning everybody. I was waiting for this feature from a while. Compliments to Adobe.

My name is Jarno Zaffelli

I'm a Nikon's Pro Photographer and I just checked with beta profiles for Nikon my last shooting in Yellowstone Park.

Now is very similar to the achievement with Capture NX2 and with on camera defaults but I'm a little bit concerned to the transient to white clippings and highlights. Instead of ACR 4.x the area with highlights is trangely defined and not graduated, with every Nikon presets...

Anyone else? I coul post pictures on my blog to discuss it or here...

Other Profiles?

Is there somewhere to download additional profiles (Nikon D300/D80)? The ones included in the initial download package are pretty scarce.

DNG/LIghtroom Color Profiles

First of all, let me congratulate Adobe for taking the big step in Lightroom and Camera Raw in providing the ability for photographers in applying camera specific profiles to their images. I have used the beta profiles, I was able to achieved significant improvements in color rendering beyond what CR and LR had provided previously. Good Job!!

Now for my rant. Why oh Why could you not use ICC color profiling? The rest of the world uses these files, why does Adobe have to blaze its own and new path with DNG? Many of us have invested in profiling software and equipment to perform profiling that, should we continue to use LR and CR are worthless and require us to redo our efforts in specific profiling. More importanly, sophisticated digital camera and digital back manufactures provide their own ICC profiles for their products, but these are worthless if we use LR for processing our raw files. Consequently, this does nothing for helping us improve our workflow if we use LR. This specific issue makes me so mad I am sorely tempted to abandon my use of LR even though I really like the improvements and trend-line LR is on.

Sincerely,

Earl Robicheaux

Sony Alpha Profiles

Will there be any profiles for Sony Alpha DSLRs in the future?
