The Catalan Pilot Program is the first implementation of a Language Pack. This Language Pack has been created for Adobe Reader 8. You may wish to bookmark this page as it will contain information on future updates.

This is a pilot release of a Catalan Language Pack for Adobe® Reader®. Please read this entire page carefully before deciding to download and install. This pilot release is unsupported but we welcome and encourage your feedback.
Prerequisites for Installing the Catalan Language Pack
Reader version
Adobe Reader 8.1 - Spanish recommended
System Requirements
- Windows XP Professional, Home Edition, or Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 2; Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 4; Windows 2003 Server; or Windows Vista™
- Intel® Pentium® III or equivalent processor
- 128MB of RAM (256MB recommended for complex forms or large documents)
- 110MB of available hard-disk space
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0, Firefox 1.5 or 2.0, Mozilla 1.7, AOL 9
Installing the Catalan Language Pack
Downloading off Adobe Labs
- Click on the file AdbeRdrLP81_ca_ES.exe (see Download section below).
- Save the file to a known location. The file is needed if you ever want to remove the Language Pack.
Installing the Language Pack
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Navigate to where you had saved the AdbeRdrLP81_ca_ES.exe file.
- Double click the file to run it.
- When the Installer application appears, click the Install button.
- After installation has finished, a text window appears showing the files installed and their locations.
- Click the Finish button - the Catalan Language Pack installation is completed.
- Close the text window.
Launching Reader with the Catalan Language Pack'
You can choose either of the following to launch Catalan Reader
- Hold down the Control key and double click the Reader icon on the desktop.
- Select "català" from the language drop down list.
- Click OK and Reader launches with a Catalan user interface.
OR
- In the Reader Edit\Preferences\International screen go to the Application Language drop down list.
- Change this to "Choose at application startup."
- You can then choose "català" the next time Reader starts.
Removing the Catalan Language Pack
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to where you stored the AdbeRdrLP81_ca_ES.exe file.
- Double click AdbeRdrLP81_ca_ES.exe file.
- Click the Uninstall button.
- After uninstallation has finished, a text window appears showing the files removed and their locations.
- Click Finish button - the Catalan Language Pack is removed.
If you have not stored the AdbeRdrLP81_ca_ES.exe file then refer to the next section for a solution.
Known Issues/Limitations
- If the AdbeRdrLP81_ca_ES.exe file is run directly without saving and you wish to remove the Catalan Language Pack, you need to re-download the original installer and run it or re-run it directly from the web site. You will then be given an option to Uninstall or Reinstall.
- You will not be able to install the Catalan Language pack if Reader is running either inside a browser or externally.
- If you update your version of Reader 8, then the Catalan Language Pack may no longer work and you will have to revert back to your original version. Please ensure that you have the same Adobe Reader version as the Language Pack. The number in the file name will tell what version it belongs - for example, AdbeRdrLP81_ca_ES.exe means Catalan Language Pack 8.1.
